Divorce Has Long-Term Consequences For Children
When a child witnesses his parents arguing and eventually divorcing, things can become difficult. Their minds are still malleable, which means that they are susceptible to being influenced by the events taking place around them. Behavioral and social difficulties:
The chances of developing violent and antisocial conduct in a child increases when his or her parents separate or divorce. Difficulties in interpersonal relationships:
When children grow up witnessing a failed marriage, they begin to have doubts about the possibility of love and wholeness in a relationship. They struggle to build trust in others and find it difficult to settle disputes in their relationships. Even as adults, such children will enter into any relationship with a negative frame of mind.

Depression is a severe problem, & children who witness a divorce are more likely to suffer from depression and social withdrawal as a result of the experience. It has been noted by researchers that divorce can be a factor contributing in cases of bipolar disorder in children and adolescents.
A lack of education and a low socio-economic status:
The negative psychological consequences of divorce reduce a child’s desire to pursue a formal education. Children who have experienced their parents’ divorce show a significant decline in their academic performance (6). It can have a significant impact on a child’s ability to learn in school and at college, among other things. Having a child who does not make sufficient progress in school hinders his or her future career prospects as an adult, making it difficult to achieve a good socio-economic status.
